What I'm playing this weekend.

Well, the 360 made it into the repair station in Texas yesterday,so probably two more weeks of no Xbox :(..So,I'm gonna play the PS3 as much as I can.I just picked up Devil May Cry 4 the other day and I have Dark Sector sitting here,so I'm going to try to play through those this weekend.I might also download PixelJunk Monsters,it gets a lot of good reviews btw.

Cellphone pics of the trophy screen, clock, etc.
Apparently,2.4 is getting even closer.I reported on this earlier in the month(yes before a few websites said they did)

2.4 is shaping up to offer PS3 users in game XMB,music, clock, multiple user log ins on the same PS3 and more. The pdf file indicating 2.4 is floating around to devs now and Insomniac has hinted at it also.
Will it make it before June 12th and will we starting seeing trophy patches?

PSN update 5/29/08:Come back next week.

This weeks update was terrible, nothing really to download at all for the US.I had to go to the UK store to even find anything to look at.In other news, some websites are starting to pick up on the news of firmware 2.4,so that's good.

Pre-order Secret Agent Clank..get a cool little figurine

You can download the demo from the store, but if you pre-order now
from a gamestop, then you can get a neat little Secret Agent Clank figure.

Youtube to have direct PS3 uploading of video

See below..and great news. The capability to do this was first made aware in the 2.35 Firmware update

Back in March, we launched the new YouTube APIs and Tools, with the goal of making YouTube an open video services platform and available for use by any website, desktop application, or consumer device. Today, we are announcing a new partnership that takes advantage of the YouTube APIs in a new and interesting way.

We are happy to announce that PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3TM) has integrated the YouTube APIs to allow game developers to create games that enable direct upload of in-game video captures to YouTube. This YouTube upload functionality can be incorporated not only into new PS3 game titles, but also existing PS3 titles that have the ability to receive network updates. Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has added YouTube functionality to Mainichi Issho, a popular game with PS3 users in Japan. Gamers will now be able to upload their in-game video captures to YouTube. We're excited at the opportunity this presents and look forward to more and more games to be enhanced with YouTube.

The YouTube APIs are available to all developers and we hope that game developers everywhere will use the YouTube APIs to make video an integral part of their game experience. Whether it's showing off that fantastic touchdown pass, car slide, or karaoke sing-along, we hope that more user-generated content from games will make their way to YouTube and connect with the gamer communities.

Let the games begin!

* PS3 system software must be updated to the latest version.

Kotaku user has pics of PSN cards in the wild

Photobucket

So a reader named "Josh" from Kotaku has taken some photos of a setup for PSN cards at his local Meijers. This is pretty good news.Although, some PSN cards have been available at Military bases for quite a while. The reason for this is that the AVS certification in the PSN does not accept P.O.Boxes or APO boxes. When I talked to Sony in January, they told me they were beta testing them and they would be released soon. Can't wait myself, due to the fact that I have a PO box myself. Let's get it going Sony!!

Memorial Weekend:Not much time for games!

Well, this weekend was pretty busy with family and doing stuff with the girlfriend. We went out and got some things for the baby coming in October. I did go by Gamestop and checked on my stepdaughters Pink Nintendo DS.I'm just going to wait a few days before her birthday and pick it up.I almost picked up a Nintendo Wii,but I feel like I'll just wait a little longer.I did pick up Devil May Cry 4,which looks beautiful. It plays just like the original versions I played on PS2,but looks much better. I also put down my preorder for Metal Gear Solid 4,so I can't wait for that and I'm not the biggest Metal Gear fan.Other than that,it's been a pretty lax weekend for the games. So,hopefully next week it'll pick up! See ya soon.

Uncharted:Drake Fortune..A great thrillride.

How can a game be this good?
Uncharted is one of the few games that I've really enjoyed to the end.It plays
very much like a movie and is just as entertaining.Yes,it does resemble Indiana Jones,Tomb raider, the Mummy and other shows, but is that a bad thing? Some people
will say that the Zombies at the end, doesn't really make much sense.I think that
the entire storyline is great and you really have to play through to the end to
get the entire story.

Uncharted has a great mix of action, puzzle solving and platforming and is well worth a 9-9.5 score. The only problem I have with the game is that weapons seem a little weak except for the grenade launcher. So,if you never played Uncharted,go pick it up and enjoy.

My 360 finally went RROD

I purchased it in 4/26/06 and I never really had issues other than disc read errors till last week. While playing GTA4 it red lighted and I reset it and it went away.Well, today I wanted to play a little GTA4 and it wouldn't come on except for three blinking red lights.I called Microsoft and after having to repeat my address and info several times I think he got it right..Sigh..I usually don't like to give in to the RROD,but Microsoft needs to do better. How about a trade up program for the Elite??
I'm so into my 360 I can't just leave it and forget it..26 Xbox arcade games, over 40 360 titles on it and video, movies, etc plus Rockband.
I guess I won't be playing 360 much for the month of June afterall..

SCEE to start posting in the SCEA blog.

The following comments from Jeff Rubenstein.

"We’re working on some plans to get SCEE contributing to this blog. Stay tuned"

This is basically in line with what I reported the other day from what I heard.I think the SCEE traffic through the SCEA blog might have turned a few heads.

Konami pushing for Trophies before June 12th?

Sev is saying (from his sources) that Konami is pushing Sony to get 2.4 up and running before June 12th.From my sources(it's a decent possiblity) and that the Open beta in November for Home isn't really the final release..hmmm
Also expect something better on the information front for Sony's official blogs in regards to the SCEE reigon.Yes,Threespeech(better spell it the proper way instead of joking or the dorks wont' get it..lol) isn't pulling it's own. Stay tuned for some more info tomorrow on Sony happenings!

Oh Noes!!! LittleBigPlanet delayed one month

Photobucket

Well,LBP is pushed back a month. This is not that big of a deal compared to what many people think about Killzone 2 getting bumped to 2009. From what I understand,Media Molecule is trying to pack in plenty of content for the creation part of the game. The single player game seems to be really up to snuff, with harder obstacles, bosses, enemies and plenty of ways to die.You are timed on your completion of the board. There are checkpoint orbs,so if you do die or get left behind you restart at that point.I'm really excited about this game. I guess it's because I want to build a Mario board(who doesn't right?)

Review of the Haze Demo

First off,the Haze demo is not bad at all. The guns feel a little akward, but I get a very Haloish vibe when playing the game. One thing I noticed and it's a sort of in game XMB. From the profile screen in the game, you can bring up a menu that has friends(that menu is the XMB friends list). So in game XMB should not be a problem.
Not much of a storyline to begin with.Your dropped in the Jungle to fight Rebels. There is a tutorial on using the drug Nectar.Basically,it helps you see your enemies, makes you faster and melee like the Hulk. The graphics aren't bad, either. So,I think this game is definitely going to be worth a look.

Happy Playstation Day!!!!!!

I will have some updated info of all the coverage from the show
today in London. Also, expect a review of the Haze Demo and
some thoughts about what to expect later this year from the PS3/PSN .
